Nagpur, April 21: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a new online system for the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund on April 20. The system aims to ensure faster approvals—within just eight hours—while reducing the burden on patients and their families.
Under the new arrangement, hospitals will directly submit applications on behalf of patients, eliminating the need for patients or their relatives to complete documentation and apply independently. This move is expected to significantly reduce delays and help patients receive timely treatment.
Officials said the system has been introduced to make the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund and Charity Hospital Help Desk more patient-friendly. Once a patient submits the required documents at the hospital, the hospital administration will forward the application online to the fund office. If all documents are in order, approvals will be granted within eight working hours.
The Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund Desk, set up in Nagpur, provides financial support to economically weaker patients across Maharashtra. Previously, patients’ families had to arrange and submit all documents themselves, often leading to delays in accessing urgent medical care.
Data from the financial year April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, shows that medical aid worth ₹333.06 crore was disbursed to 40,776 patients across the state, highlighting the scale and importance of the scheme.
In addition, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund Desk, BPCL Foundation, and Tata Memorial Centre to support cancer treatment for children through CSR funding. This initiative will further expand access to quality healthcare for needy patients.
Healthcare outreach has also been strengthened in Nagpur district, where 747 health camps—including Namo Netra Sanjivani and Arogya Cha Shree Ganesh—benefited 53,422 patients last year.
Officials clarified that while the new online system will streamline approvals, offline facilities will continue for those unable to submit documents digitally. These services will remain available at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Hyderabad House, Civil Lines, Nagpur.
Dr. Sagar Pande, in-charge and member secretary of the Help Desk, said the initiative will ensure faster approvals and timely treatment, bringing significant relief to patients across the state.
