Mumbai (MimTimes) NCP corporator and Standing Committee member Saeeda Khan has undertaken the renovation and beautification of a maternity ward with the objective of creating a positive and comforting environment for women during childbirth.

Speaking about the initiative, Saeeda Khan said that every woman who gives birth goes through immense pain and physical stress. She explained that when women in such conditions are surrounded by a pleasant atmosphere filled with positivity and comfort, it helps reduce a significant part of their suffering.

She stated that this was the main reason behind the renovation and beautification of the maternity ward. According to her, many important decorative and comfort-related elements are not included in the municipal corporation’s regular schedule or provisions, making such efforts necessary through personal initiative.

Saeeda Khan dedicated the project to her late mother, Malik Rakiya Khatoon, on the occasion of Mother’s Day. She emphasized that the initiative is not only in memory of her mother, but is also dedicated to every woman who endures the pain of childbirth to bring a new life into the world.

The inauguration was attended by 83-year-old senior citizen Suman, whose birth took place at Kurla Bhabha Hospital in 1943. She later received training at BMC’s Sion Hospital and worked at Nair Hospital. She also served for many years within the BMC healthcare system.
