November 7, 2024: India A had a rough start to their second unofficial Test against Australia A at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, losing four quick wickets in just the first three overs. KL Rahul, aiming to regain form ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, scored only 4 runs before being dismissed.
Australia A chose to bowl first, and their decision paid off immediately. Pacer Michael Neser struck twice in the opening over, removing openers Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sai Sudharsan within four balls, leaving India at 0/2. Soon after, Neser also dismissed India A captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, bringing the score to a shaky 11/4.
KL Rahul, moved up in the order, was out after edging a delivery from Scott Boland to the wicketkeeper. His form is now a concern, especially with captain Rohit Sharma possibly missing the first Test, opening up competition for the slot.
The early collapse has put India A in a tough position, as Australia A’s fast bowlers dominated the session. India A now faces an uphill battle to recover, while Australia A aims to keep up the pressure.
