Mumbai: Cabinet Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha has ordered immediate action against Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltration, illegal constructions, and criminal activities in the Malvani area of Mumbai.

During a “Janta Darbar” held at the P North Ward Office of the BMC, citizens raised serious concerns about rising encroachments, gang activity, and the drug menace. MLA Sanjay Upadhyay, MLC Rajhans Singh, and senior civic and police officials were present.

A report revealed over 10,000 unauthorized constructions in the area. Minister Lodha announced the formation of a special committee to tackle the issue and called for a high-level meeting to plan further action.

Taking note of illegal encroachments on Anganwadi centers, Lodha directed civic and police authorities to clear them immediately. He also ordered strict action against the destruction of mangroves and illegal settlements on protected land.

Expressing anger over a recent assault on a senior citizen, Lodha warned that if the accused were not arrested by night, he would take direct action. He also ordered action against liquor shops operating beyond permitted hours and directed police to target both drug users and peddlers.

“Over 200 citizen complaints were resolved today, but our work will continue until Malvani residents get full justice,” Lodha said.
