Nitesh Rane Explores Hydrofoil Tech in Sweden — Candela’s Innovative Vessels to Transform Mumbai’s Water Transport

Sweden,In line with Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis’s vision for a modern, smart, and global Mumbai, Minister for Fisheries and Ports Development Shri Nitesh Rane visited Sweden to review Candela’s world-leading hydrofoil technology for water transport.
During his visit to Candela’s headquarters, Minister Rane experienced a demonstration ride on the company’s advanced C8 and P12 hydrofoil vessels on the Baltic Sea. These boats, powered by cutting-edge technology, glide above water, offering high speed, exceptional energy efficiency, and minimal environmental impact.
The P12 vessel is expected to arrive in Mumbai soon, marking the beginning of a new era in Maharashtra’s water transport modernization.
Candela Founder & CEO Mr. Gustav Hasselskog and Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Nakul Virat presented a detailed overview of the company’s innovative design and manufacturing processes. Preliminary discussions were also held regarding the possibility of establishing a Candela manufacturing facility in Maharashtra.
Minister Nitesh Rane stated that this initiative represents a significant step toward realizing Chief Minister Fadnavis’s vision of a “Global Mumbai.” Once operational, Candela’s eco-friendly vessels will provide citizens with a modern, comfortable, and sustainable travel experience while improving coastal connectivity.
He added that this collaboration will promote the use of advanced technology in water transport, coastal infrastructure, and fisheries, while also generating new employment opportunities across the state.
