SIT Constituted to Probe Birth Certificate Irregularities, Police Commissioner Deven Bharti forms high-level team to investigate large number of suspicious entries

Mumbai (MimTimes): In view of the rising cases of birth certificates being obtained through fraudulent documents, Mumbai Police has taken strict action by constituting a Special Investigation Team (SIT). An official order in this regard has been issued from the office of Police Commissioner Deven Bharti.

According to the order, the Crime Branch will conduct the investigation, during which a large number of suspicious birth certificates have come to light. Following these revelations, a dedicated team has been formed to carry out an in-depth probe and take action against those responsible.

The team comprises senior police officials, with the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) appointed as the head. Other members include the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Additional Commissioner (Special Branch), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection, Crime Branch), and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Detection).

According to police officials, the SIT will thoroughly examine birth certificates obtained using fake documents, identify the individuals and networks involved, and ensure legal action is taken. This move is being seen as a significant step toward maintaining transparency and security in civic records.
