Six security personnel, including four paramilitary Rangers and two police officers, have been killed in violent clashes with protesters in Islamabad. Over 100 security officers have also been injured.
The violence started late on Monday when supporters of Imran Khan, led by his wife Bushra Bibi, entered the capital. The protests began on Sunday in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and by Monday evening, they had reached Islamabad. Despite efforts by the government to control the protests, the demonstration continued into Tuesday as protesters marched toward D-Chowk, a key area near government buildings.
A deadly incident occurred when a vehicle crashed into a group of Rangers personnel on the Srinagar Highway, killing four officers and injuring several others.
In response to the unrest, the Pakistani government has sent in the military and issued shoot-at-sight orders to restore order.
The protests have been sparked by the arrest of Imran Khan, and his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is pushing for his release while facing roadblocks from the government. The situation remains tense, and authorities are struggling to control the growing unrest.
