Mumbai: Western Railway has introduced several measures to make travel easier for passengers returning from their hometowns after the Chhath Puja and Diwali holidays. To meet the high demand, additional Holiday Special trains will run to key destinations, ensuring a convenient travel experience for everyone.
Shri Ashok Kumar Misra, General Manager of Western Railway, has directed all stations to take extra steps to help passengers. According to Shri Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer, the railways are working to manage the expected large crowds and prevent congestion on platforms, foot overbridges, and nearby areas.
To ensure smooth movement, Western Railway will deploy extra staff, including Commercial and Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers. They will also have Ticket Checking staff at all entry and exit points of busy stations around the clock.
At major stations like Bandra Terminus, Udhna, and Surat, special holding areas will be set up to assist passengers. Udhna station will have 50 Licensed Sahayaks to help travelers. Additional Ticket Windows will also be open, and signs and information boards will guide passengers to avoid confusion.
To help manage the flow of taxis and autos, a proper queuing system will be in place. Senior Railway Officers will monitor the situation and make sure things run smoothly.
Western Railway will also track passenger numbers and share updates with the Control Office to adjust plans quickly if needed. These efforts are aimed at ensuring that passengers can travel safely and comfortably as they return home after the festive season
