FDA Minister Narhari Zirwal Leads Midnight Crackdown on Milk Adulteration in Mumbai 98 Milk Tankers Inspected; 1 Vehicle Sent Back for Substandard Quality

Mumbai, In a historic move to curb milk adulteration, Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a surprise midnight inspection of milk tankers entering Mumbai. Led by FDA Minister Narhari Zirwal, the large-scale operation covered 98 vehicles carrying a total of 1,83,397 liters of milk. The inspection, held on the night of February 12 and 13, marked the biggest action against adulteration to date.

The FDA team meticulously checked the quality and safety of milk at major entry points into the city. One vehicle, found carrying substandard milk at Mankhurd (Vashi) Check Naka, was immediately sent back, ensuring that contaminated milk did not reach consumers.


Breakdown of Inspections at Key Checkpoints:


• Mulund Check Naka (East) – 13 vehicles, 2,833 liters of milk inspected.


• Mankhurd (Vashi) Check Naka – 41 vehicles, 98,215 liters of milk inspected.


• Dahisar Check Naka – 19 vehicles, 8,977 liters of milk inspected.


• Airoli Check Naka – 25 vehicles, 73,372 liters of milk inspected.


The total value of the inspected milk was ₹9.60 crore, highlighting the scale of the operation.


Minister Narhari Zirwal’s Direct Involvement Sends a Strong Message


For years, milk adulteration has been a serious concern in Maharashtra. However, since taking charge of the FDA, Minister Narhari Zirwal has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against food adulteration. His personal presence during the late-night raid showcased his commitment to public health.
