Mumbai, The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and Indian Ports Association (IPA), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), hosted the Leaders’ Dialogue on Green & Digital Maritime Corridors in Mumbai on Tuesday, kickstarting preparations for India Maritime Week 2025 scheduled in October. Over 300 delegates — from senior government officials to global maritime leaders — attended the high-profile event.
Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, in a video address, hailed the India–Singapore partnership as a driver of innovation and sustainability. “The Green & Digital Shipping Corridor will not just connect ports; it will redefine global trade through low-emission technologies and advanced digital tools,” he said.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis used the platform to spotlight the state’s maritime roadmap, declaring that the upcoming Vadhavan Port would debut among the world’s top 10 ports. “This is more than a port; it’s a transformative leap for India’s maritime infrastructure,” he said.
Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong praised the 60-year partnership between the two nations, calling it a “model for global cooperation.” Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow confirmed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the corridor would be signed in September 2025.
T.K. Ramachandran, Secretary, MoPSW, linked the initiative to broader trade strategies like the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC) and Eastern Maritime Corridor (EMC). “These corridors are engines of growth and sustainability,” he said, stressing that the India–Singapore project aligns with both countries’ goals in clean energy and smart logistics.
Joint Secretary (Ports) R. Lakshmanan described India Maritime Week 2025 as the flagship showcase of India’s maritime vision under the tagline Uniting Oceans, One Maritime Vision. JNPA Chairman Unmesh Sharad Wagh called for “greener, smarter, more connected corridors” to steer the sector toward a sustainable future.
The event, supported by ASSOCHAM and Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, featured thematic sessions on maritime reforms, infrastructure milestones, and global cooperation, culminating in a pledge to advance the India–Singapore Green & Digital Shipping Corridor as a key pillar of Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
