NCP will not tolerate criticism against our State President Sunil Tatkare and Minister Aditi Tai Tatkare – Anand Paranjpe

21 January 2025

Mumbai, Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) Chief Spokesperson Anand Paranjpe, in a press conference on Tuesday, warned that no one should make personal attacks against NCP State President-MP Sunil Tatkare and Minister Aditi Tatkare. He emphasised that the party would not tolerate such criticism.

Responding to the criticism levelled by the Shinde faction after Aditi Tai Tatkare was named as the Guardian Minister of Raigad, Paranjpe defended the decision in a press conference. The government has announced Guardian Minister designations for 36 districts in the state. However, Mahayuti ally Shiv Sena was dissatisfied with the Guardian Minister appointments for Raigad and Nashik. Paranjpe condemned the way protests were conducted in Raigad, such as blocking the Mumbai-Goa Highway and burning tires, calling it an improper and unparliamentary act.

“The language used against MP Sunil Tatkare, Minister Aditi Tai Tatkare, and their family was inappropriate, condemnable, and disgraceful,” said Paranjpe. He further added that such actions tarnish the alliance’s sanctity. “Every political party has the right to express its opinions in a democracy. If there are disagreements over a decision, it should be discussed with the party leaders. The Guardian Ministers’s decision rests entirely with the CM. Such statements could be an attempt to create unrest and trouble the CM,” he added.

After the Guardian Minister designations, the appointments for Raigad and Nashik were put on hold. Paranjpe clarified that once the CM returns from Davos, NCP’s National President and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will discuss the matter with him.

Paranjpe expressed grief over the inappropriate incidents in Mahad, the capital of Raigad. He reminded everyone of the dignity with which Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Rajmata Jijau treated women. Paranjpe also expressed dissatisfaction with the statements made about Aditi Tatkare, who has excelled as a minister and made a mark as the president of Zilla Parishad.

“As a minister, she has served the people of Raigad during natural calamities by working tirelessly among the public. During the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, she performed commendably. Under the leadership of Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, the Mahayuti government announced the ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana,’ ensuring a monthly benefit of Rs 1,500 directly deposited into the bank accounts of women. The effort benefited 2.35 crore women, and Minister Aditi Tatkare’s dedication played a key role in its success.”

Paranjpe further stated, “For the past two days, inappropriate incidents in Raigad have been condemnable. Minister Bharat Gogawale and Shiv Sena leaders like Mahendra Dalvi and Mahendra Thorve should have expressed their concerns about the Guardian Minister appointments to their party leader and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde or CM Devendra Fadnavis. Instead, they chose to make personal attacks on Sunil Tatkare and Aditi Tai Tatkare, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”

Paranjpe advised Bharat Gogawale, state minister with a constitutional position, not to disrupt law and order by organising roadblocks or burning tires, as it discredits the CM who also oversees the state Home Ministry.

NCP State Spokesperson Sanjay Tatkare, Youth State President, and Spokesperson Suraj Chavan also remained present at the press conference.
