Viral Boat Accident Video Claiming to Be from Goa Is False

A video showing a sinking boat has been widely shared on social media, with claims that it depicts a tragic accident in Goa. According to these posts, an overloaded steamer crashed in Goa, leaving 64 people missing and 23 bodies recovered.

However, these claims are false. Our investigation revealed that the video is not from Goa. The footage shows a boat sinking, with passengers drowning, but this incident did not happen in India.

Upon further research, we found that the video actually shows a boat accident that occurred in Lake Kivu, located in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In that incident, at least 78 people tragically lost their lives when the boat capsized.

There have been no reports of any such boat disaster in Goa recently. The claims about this being a Goa accident are entirely untrue, and the video is from the Congo.
