In a bid to enhance the safety and efficiency of railway operations, Western Railway has scheduled a crucial three-hour night block on all Mumbai Central main line platforms. The maintenance work, encompassing tracks, overhead systems, and signalling equipment, will take place from 01:00 hrs to 04:00 hrs on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
According to a press release by Shri Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the night block is essential for conducting comprehensive maintenance activities to ensure the continued reliability of the railway infrastructure. During this period, a strategic operational adjustment will see all fast-line trains diverted onto the slow line between Churchgate and Mumbai Central (local).
To facilitate the maintenance block, some suburban trains are slated to be cancelled during the specified hours. Commuters are advised to check with their respective station masters for detailed information on the affected services.
It's important to note that this maintenance block is exclusively scheduled for the night, and there will be no disruption to Western Railway Suburban Section services during the daytime on Sunday, January 7, 2024. This decision is aimed at minimising inconvenience to passengers while prioritising the upkeep of the railway infrastructure.
Western Railway remains committed to ensuring the safety and efficiency of its services, and such periodic maintenance blocks play a crucial role in achieving this objective. Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and stay informed about any temporary adjustments to train schedules during the maintenance window.
