Nine Injured in Stampede at Bandra Terminus Due to Early Morning Rush

Mumbai, October 27, 2024 – A stampede broke out early this morning at Bandra Terminus, injuring nine passengers trying to board the packed Bandra-Gorakhpur Express (Train No. 22921). The incident happened around 2:55 AM on Platform No. 1, as passengers rushed to get seats in the general compartment of the train, scheduled to depart at 5:10 AM.
Due to the crowd, nine passengers were injured and were quickly taken to Bandra Bhabha Hospital. Seven of them are stable, while two – Indrajith Sahani (19) and Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18) – are in critical condition.

Parmeshwar Sukhdar Gupta (28) – stable
Ravindra Harihar Chuma (30) – stable
Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati (29) – stable
Sanjay Tilakram Kangay (27) – stable
Divyanshu Yogendra Yadav (18) – stable
Mohammad Shareef Shaikh (25) – stable
Indrajith Sahani (19) – critical
Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18) – critical
The stampede was first reported by a security guard at the hospital, with updates provided by Dr. Ritesh, the medical officer on duty. Though the train route is known for being crowded, police presence was limited on the platform, raising concerns about crowd control at the station.
