Mumbai, December 6, 2024: The screening of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule was stopped at Gaiety Galaxy Theatre in Bandra last night after someone sprayed an unknown substance in the cinema hall. Several people started coughing and complained of throat irritation, causing panic. A video shared online showed movie-goers covering their faces in fear. Police arrived at the scene to investigate, but no case has been filed yet.
This incident follows a tragic stampede at a cinema in Hyderabad the day before. During the premiere of Pushpa 2, a large crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun, who arrived without prior notice. The stampede led to the death of a 35-year-old woman, and her 9-year-old son was hospitalized after struggling to breathe.
In connection with the stampede, Allu Arjun, his security team, and the cinema management have been charged with causing harm. The police have booked them under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) (causing harm with dangerous means) of the Indian Penal Code.
Pushpa 2: The Rule follows the story of a laborer who becomes a smuggling kingpin. The film, directed by Sukumar, also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil.
